Choosing The Film Schools That’s Best For You by Nathan James..
It seems Like everyone today want to be an actor. While acting can certainly be a very rewarding profession, in Both monetary and fulfilling terms, it’s probably one of the most difficult areas of film to break in to.
If film and TV are your Dream job, there are plenty of other areas you can get into. You could consider directing, producing or even writing scripts, and choosing the right film school is one of the most important decisions you’ll Make.
The first step in getting into the film industry is determining what Type of Career you’re interested in. Just about any job in the film industry pays very well, so you should be ready for plenty of competition. You should also be aware that you’ll need to start at the bottom, often as a production assistant (answering phones, getting coffee, etc) before any hopes of working in the Field you were trained in.
Keep in Mind that you will also likely need to move to where the work is available. In the film industry, that can mean working on location for weeks or months at a time.
Choose the Film School that Meets your Criteria
If your passion is continuity, don’t go to one of the film schools that focuses on directing. While it is typically important to get a feel for all areas of film production, you’ll want to spend the most time focusing on your Own career goals.
Look for film schools that allow you to take specific classes in your film degree rather than a Set course load.
With the growth of the film industry, you’ll find film schools popping up all over the Country (and the world). So you’ll need to do your due diligence to make sure you’re not paying a lot of money for a degree that isn’t going to get you anywhere.
Make sure the school has been around for Quite a while and check their credentials. Many Major universities also offer top notch film degrees which are well regarded in the industry.

Your Options For Chicago Film Schools
When it comes to film production, Chicago has a longstanding status as situated beneath the booming entertainment Scenes of Los Angeles as well as New York City. Recent Movies shot in the Windy City include Public Enemies, Shall We Dance, The Weather Man as well as Batman Begins.
Film schools in Chicago just like the Illinois Institute of the Arts, deliver top quality film training in state-of-the-art facilities. A lot of students find joining film school in a city such as Chicago to be preferable to attending a school NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts or USC’s cinema program. What makes learning film in a Second tier town more useful is the Fact that you get good access to the trade and get quality education without being put through Hollywood buzz.
You’ll find other good film programs in the metropolis in schools including the Tribeca Media Arts Academy, Depaul University and the University of Chicago. Just like the Art Institute, Depaul and the University of Chicago offer Certified degree programs in film. An associate’s degree, which can be accomplished in a matter of two Years, is offered by the Tribeca Flashpoint Media Arts Academy . Quite a few students find this more suitable to getting a Four-year degree in that they have the ability to learn what they need to be competitive for entry-level film work opportunities and Never having to spend four years in college.
Then there is the Film Connection, which is recognized for its mentor-apprentice program that is diverse from other Chicago film schools. The programs Here take less time to finish than even an associate’s degree and are also less expensive. In this kind of environment, students learn by being matched with an Actual industry specialist who will allow them to Help in genuine film projects.
Mentorships are a good way for students to learn everything about film productions. Quite a few students even decide to Complete a mentor-apprentice program as a compliment to a four-year degree from a Chicago area film school. They do so because mentor-apprentice programs have the advantage of providing students the opportunity to establish industry connections – incredibly valuable in helping them get a job.
Therefore before selecting among the Chicago film schools, guarantee that you’ve checked all your choices and that what you will be choosing is worth your time and money. Four-year degree training are very pricey and time intensive – most of the time, they only Land you on an entry-level position.
