The study conducted in Five countries in the European region shows that European motorists look at a car’s fuel efficiency when shopping for One. The reason is pretty much the same – People Are looking for vehicles that Have Great fuel economy because of the increasing prices of gasoline, petrol, or diesel. The main reasons for the soaring Price of these fossil fuels are fluctuations in market supply and instability in some countries which are Major producers of Oil.

France, Germany, Italy, Spain, and the United Kingdom are the five countries Where the study Was conducted. Among these five countries, Spain showed the Most Number of respondents Who said that fuel efficiency is the First Thing on their list when looking for a car Top buy. Sixty Three percent of the Spanish respondents said that they are very or extremely likely to purchase a car based on Its fuel economy. Italian respondents are the Second Group who are most concerned About the fuel efficiency of Cars. About 45 percent of them said that it is the most important attribute of a car that would catch their interest. Meanwhile, 36 percent of the German respondents said that What they are looking for in a car is enhanced fuel economy.

Another aspect that the study tackled is the popularity of alternative fuels for cars. While hybrid electric cars are the rave in the US, European respondents feel otherwise. Twenty eight percent of the respondents in the study said that they are very or extremely likely to consider buying fuel-cell powered cars. The Only problem being encountered Here though is the cost in production of the fuel cells. The High production costs translate to Higher prices of these cars which employ fuel cell technology. But further studies and development in that said Field Will considerably Lower the production cost. This then will Make fuel cell-powered cars More accessible to car buyers.

Sports cars have been a global phenomenon since before the start of mass production when cars were considered just for Fun or sport. There were Cross country rallies all Over the globe where independent car makers would Test their cars and their skills against each other.

After World War II the Big cross country rallies were added to with one on one races like the Street races in the United States that were glorified by Movies like Rebel Without A Cause and later Films like Grease. Usually these races would occur in the wee morning hours when the roads were fairly empty and Racers would sometimes Race for the Pink slips or titles of their cars.

In Europe the races happened on the long and winding country roads that are all over the Old Country. And now the Japanese began entering the fray, due in large part to the concern over the price of gas in the United States, the Japanese brought quality and performance to new levels while showing that Both could be done while offering decent fuel economy.

The Love of sports cars is even growing in the Middle East where Maserati has found a dependable niche market among the Rich young oil barons. The Maserati Quatroporte is especially in demand among the young drivers there.

In a world of differing opinions and political views the sports car seems to be a common unifier all across the Planet.

The Story Of The Invasion Of Lorraine In 1914 by

The French and Germans have argued about the territories of Alsace and Lorraine for centuries. In 1871, after losing the Franco-Prussian War, France was forced to cede the territories back to Prussia. When Germany invaded Belgium in 1914, France seized upon the opportunity to restore its honor and reclaim the coal rich regions of Alsace and Lorraine. On August 14, 1914, the French Army under the command of Generals Foch and Dubail marched Into Lorraine. The German Forces (Sixth Army) were led by Crown Prince Rupprecht and equipped with Machine Guns and heavy artillery.

The German strategy was simple. On August 14th, they began a controlled retreat intending to Draw the French armies into attacking heavily defended areas. The French First and Second Armies easily marched forward. On August 17th, Foch’s XXth Corps was able to seize Château Salins. On August 18th Dubail’s 1st Army advanced into Sarrebourg and on the same Day the 2nd Army took control of Dieuze. As the French armies continued to advance, they were met with increasingly heavier resistance from the German troops.

Rupprecht grew impatient with the retreating strategy and requested orders to Attack. There are contradictory reports whether the order to counter attack came from Army Chief of Staff Helmuth Von Moltke or if Rupprecht used His own authority. On August 20th, the German Sixth Army attacked the French 2nd Army. Since the French army had been advancing extremely fast, they had no trenches or other defensive positions to thwart the German offensive.

The XXth Corps led by Foch was able to maintain its position, but the 1st and 2nd armies were pushed backed. Gaps began to form in the French lines. On August 22nd, only 8 Days after the French offensive began, the Commander-in Chief of the French Army Joffre was forced to order a retreat to Belfort, Epinal and Toul where trenches were in place and a stalemate between opposing forces followed.
