The Abbe Dimnet wrote His book in the 1930′s. Earl Nightingale wrote his in the 1980′s. They, and Many others Who Have studied the mechanics of success agree. One important Part of attempting to achieve success in any Field is to immerse yourself in the subject.

Almost anyone Can See That to learn something Well, you need to Watch experts at Work and be taught by those who know what they are doing and Talking about. However, success often involves something deeper Than mere knowledge of a subject or the mechanical skill involved in it. Exceptionally good Baseball players, writers, artists, and corporate executives often share something that those who have Never reached those levels is Not aware of. They have learned to live the life of the person they have striven to become.

An artist genuinely desiring to become the Best artist he or She can be, lives immersed in the Finest that the field of art can Offer. They do not merely sometimes daub at a Canvas, But eat, breathe, and live art…and Only the finest will suffice.

The serious writer, in addition to writing his or Her Own works and studying formally or informally on the art and Science of writing, will Read the finest works Within the field of interest. A dedicated writer hoping to become a Great novelist does not spend Large portions of his or her Time Reading comic Books (More on that in a moment). They will be found with great novels in their hands. They will be seen reading about the great writers they Hope to emulate. They will be discovered copying passages From these authors. They will be heard discussing what others have written before, and they will sit listening intently When others speak of great works of literature and the Men and women who created them.

The potential CEO will be found more often with the Wall Street Journal than with some Light Novel or Collection of Short Stories. The potential CEO who hopes, nay expects, to move in Higher circles will be found Where the members of that Circle congregate. He or she will be at the opening of the museum, the New performance, volunteering for the candidate as that is where the person he or she hopes to become will be found.

It seemed a moment ago that I spoke disparagingly of comic books, or, as they are Called these Days, Graphic novels. I merely intended to contrast what one Type of writer might eschew in order to achieve excellence in their chosen field, or portion of a field. There are those who would consider it the Greatest achievement of their life if they could become a well known and respected graphic novel illustrator. For them, they SHOULD be seen with Stan Lee‘s Marvel comics more often than with Thoreau. They have as much Right to hope and strive for success, but the rules do not really change for them.

Of course, there Must be time Off. There must be Fun. However, many who are truly dedicated to achieving their Image of success learn that there can be “fun” within their pursuit of excellence in their chosen field or as they move towards their selected goal.

After All, wouldn’t it be the greatest fun to spend Your life immersed in that which brings you greatest pleasure? What if the majority of your Friends loved the same things you do and were a pleasure to be Around because they could discuss with you for hours on the subjects nearest and dearest to your Hearts? If you had identified your Dream and pursued that which Was of the greatest interest and enjoyment, How much would you enjoy going to “work” each Day? Wouldn’t that Make a “job” seem more Like getting paid to Play?

So, Here‘s one plan you can make to achieve YOUR version of success.

1. Look within yourself and Find what you would Love to do or be involved in even if no one paid you to do it.

2. Find Out where within the field you really dream of being.

3. Begin doing everything you can to be the person you dream of being within that field. Get the education, live the lifestyle, Meet the people.

4. If you find that you cannot or will not Ever be what you originally dreamed of being, find the next best Thing and work towards that.

5. Don‘t stop.

Stan Mickle to Club owners: Cater your courses to the everyday player

It May be a Fact that only a minority of Pga TOUR players can consistently Drive the Ball more than 300 yards, but that doesn’t mean golf club owners like
Stan Mickle
should scale Back their courses.

“The Game as it’s played by the pros has Little relevance to how the it’s played by the overwhelming majority of golfers,” Stan Mickle, owner of
Canyon West Golf Club
says. “The percentage of players who can overpower a golf course, or ever has reason to complain that courses aren’t Long or challenging enough is tiny,” he added.

If you’re a golf course owner and you want to create a course that the pros will like, that’s your prerogative, Stan Mickle said. But he noted that 6,500 yards is large enough for Most amateur players. The overall focus, Stan Mickle said, should be on “intelligent and challenging courses.”

The long ball situation may be an Issue for the PGA TOUR, but that should not affect how golf courses are designed. Owners should “carry on and build the best course possible for the given site, which is exactly the creed we follow at Canyon West Golf Club,”
Stan Mickle
said.

Course designers may be concerned about the pros, particularly the ones who possess the long ball, potentially ‘crushing’ their courses, and this can influence a club to push for Green redesigns and bunker renovations. But this can ruin the charm, nuance, and strategies that Made the course great in the First place, Stan Mickle said.

There is a place for the Pro-designed golf course, but much like in regular architecture, the Real work gets done behind the Scenes, by people who can relate to the amateur in all of us, and who do it for the love of the art and the game.

“Most players are Just average,” Stan Mickle says. “It’s always a great experience to find out about Shot values and some of the intricate things golfers of a certain level look for.”

But certainly one of the biggest things Canyon West Golf Club strives for is playability,” he said. “We try and make Our course a fun experience for everyone.”

Clubs and owners can do what they want, but Stan Mickle has a piece of advice for them: “Be satisfied with what you have. Forget the pros, and stay player Friendly,” he said.

Becoming An Aerial Gunner, Navigator, Or Crew Chief For The Air Force by Victor Epand

I have interviewed an Air Force Crew Chief: “What are the criteria for becoming a aerial gunner/navigator? Is it Better than being a crew chief? First, you need to join a unit that flies helos if you want to be a gunner (aka Aerial observer A/O). You can’t be a Crew chief unless you lat move and go to the schoolhouse for the MOS – there is an exception to that in the Case of ‘homegrown’, but that’s not in your Cards unless you’ve been Flying as an A/O previously.”

“Second – there has to be a need to have you as an AO – squadrons only have so many people they can have on Flight orders at one time (it’s all about the money) and Number of aircraft vs. T/O – it’s all spelled out in the Training and Readiness (T&R) manuals. Third – you need to be recommended by the Squadron in the form of a Standardization Board (Stan Board) – which consists of the XO, Ops O, Natops O – and a few of the more senior SNCOs who have been flying for a long time).”

“Fourth – you need to be fit for the duty – swim quall, physiology and a flight physical. Fifth – If you make it this far – you should be able to start flying an initial A/O flight syllabus which includes Different types of flight regimes.”

“It depends on aircraft Maintenance, aircraft availability and scheduling – and if you don’t Show your mentors, the’Gods‘, the crew chiefs, a desire to learn or willingness to Help out with maintenance effort – you will gain no credibility or respect and your aspiring dreams to be a Fly-Boy will be squashed to the amount of a mis-formed Cat turn that missed the litter box.”

“There is a gunner/observer that is part (part time that is) of a helo crew. No it is not better than being a Crew Chief. Although if you are in another shop and not a Crew Chief, then yes, it is a cool Extra gig to do.”

“Remember, Crew Chiefs are God like. And if you don’t show your mentors, the gods, the crew chiefs, a desire to learn or willingness to help out with maintenance effort – you will gain no credibility or respect and your aspiring dreams to be a fly-boy will be squashed to the amount of a mis-formed cat turn that missed the litter box.”

“Delta probably included the most info. First you need to be in a squadron that ‘need’ aircrew. You can imagine, like working at a tanning booth rubbing massage Oil on Hot ladies, Flying jobs are Easy to fill. ‘Make yourself marketable’! You have to be able to swim and you WILL need to be a Plane Captain. If you don’t know what a Plane Captain is then you should probably Give up now.”

“It depends on the squadron. I was a Huey Crew Chief. We had the following chain of Learning. Get on Flight Orders. Observer (Go to NVG Classes) Responsible to keep your side of the aircraft from hitting Stuff at Night. You really got to fly at night unless needed for another Mission. Gunners (Take the Gun Syllabus) are responsible for shooting all targets on your side. ‘Also’, responsible to ‘not’ shoot remember , you get whatever gun the Crew Chief does ‘not’ want to shoot that day.”

“We had 3 gun quails M60, .50 cal, and Mini Gun. Crew Chief are responsible for ‘every’ thing. You are the senior Guy in the back and make ‘all’ decisions from the back of the pilots Head to the rear of the Bird. You are the go to guy for the pilots for mechanical Issues and make sure nothing falls out. “

“You are equally responsible to keep the plane in the air as the Pilot“. Each mission is different. As a Crew Chief you can fly as an observer — but, as an observer you ‘cannot’ fly as a Crew Chief. My squadron did not wing you until you finished the Crew Chief syllabus. We had guys in Fight suits with EGA’s instead of Wings because they were gunners ‘not’ Crew Chiefs. I ‘think’ the C-130 may use an enlisted navigator.”
